Drexler’s Barbeque is a new restaurant located in the Student Center Satellite on campus. It has a familiar name attached to it since it is owned by UH alumni, Clyde Drexler, the Hall of famer basketball player. It replaced what once was “Burger studio”, and offers a lot of delicacies from smoked brisket, pulled pork, sausage, and some sides that include mac and cheese, potato salad, and coleslaw. The restaurant is to be featured on the boost mobile app beginning next semester allowing students to order food on campus, at the touch of a button.
UH Dining services is excited to see how the student body reacts to such a different type of food on campus. According to Chartwells Senior Chef, Alex Brugger, “It is the only restaurant on campus to offer barbeque”. It is a way to get awesome home style cooking away from home while living on a college campus that can help comfort students during the stress of finals.
Brugger also indicated that the restaurant could potentially spread to other parts of campus depending on how popular the restaurant is. Think of this as a “trial period” for how well it will do. So if you would possibly like to see more of these around campus, go out and eat at the Satellite location to enjoy not only the amazing food, but see the sincerity with which they cook this delicious food.
